Brie it blue, gorgonzola, provolone or something Swiss, if you’re a fan of all things magnificently mouldy then don’t miss the Artisan Cheese Fair at the Italian Club in Milnerton. Taking place on Saturday 6 October and Sunday 7 October 2018, this deliciously cheesy affair will showcase some of the best cheeses and brewers in the city and beyond, with a few international cheeses on show too.
Your cheesy fontina shall overflow as numerous top cheese makers showcase their wares, alongside bakers and brewers with sumptuous treats and beverages to match the mould. Learn about the farm-to-table process of cheese making; appreciate the work of tremendously talented local cheese producers; and sample some of the smelliest, most sensational blues in the biz (along with other less pungent varieties).
To really bring cheese to life, it needs to be enjoyed with other delights – why do you think a cheese board works so well? You will be treated to a massive selection of goodies that pair excellently with all the varieties of cheese on offer. Only the best olive growers, bread bakers, charcuterie crafters, beer brewers and preserve makers will be invited to exhibit their products. It’s common knowledge that the French were onto something with their cheese and wine pairings, so rest assured, the vino will be flowing.
The weekend will hold a cheddarfil line-up of tastings, pairings and cheese making demonstrations. There’ll be a number of rarer cheeses up for grabs, along with various other tasty treats and eats. So taleggio your friends and make sure you’re hungry when you roque up to this fromage fiesta. After you've stocked up your pantry, there is lovely outdoor seating to enjoy some refreshments.
