Heritage Day Potjie Challenge

Watch an epic battle of the best potjie this September at Noordhoek

Heritage Day, September 24th, demands that we celebrate our heritage in a truly South African way. Now what could be more local than a potjiekos competition where proceeds fund the local Rugby club? Noordhoek Village plays host to the Heritage Day Potjiekos Challenge, where there will be a cook off between participating members of the public and the Noordhoek Farm Village restaurants (The Foodbarn, The Toad and Café Roux.)

The challenge is to make a truly South African potjie over an open fire at Noordhoek Farm Village on Saturday 24 September 2011.

Visitors can buy eco-friendly containers for R20 and choose which potjie they would like to sample.

Event Highlights

• 10h30 – 12h30: Heritage Day Delights for Kids – Free Children’s Activities will take place on the bandstand such as learning the history of our flag and making one to take home.
• 13h00- 17h00: eMzantzi Carnival will be performing on the bandstand
• 15h00 – 17h00: Sampling and tasting of any or all the potjies available for R20.
  
  

Everyone is encouraged to dress up proudly South African.

Heritage Day is best spent in the public; it’s a time to meet fellow proudly South African, South Africans and celebrate our common heritage in the spirit of ubuntu and togetherness.
