Freshlyground at Paul Cluver Amphitheatre

Freshlyground will be performing at Paul Cluver on Saturday 4th February 2012.


Fronted by the diminutive but dynamic Zolani Mahola, the band is made up of seven talented musicians from South Africa, Mozambique and Zimbabwe, is an ensemble with diverse cultural and musical backgrounds and exudes a live performance energy that has been the bedrock of their success.

The experienced rhythm section of Peter Cohen (drums) & Josh Hawks (bass) is complimented by guitarist Julio Sigauque, keyboardist Seredeal Scheepers, Simon Attwell (flute, mbira, sax and harmonica) and violinist Kyla Rose Smith.

Although hailing from diverse backgrounds, between them the band`s members weave musical magic that is highly infectious and undeniably groovy.

Paul Cluver is the most unique and awe inspiring setting for performances and it is only 45 minutes drive from Cape Town International. A towering Eucalyptus forest circles the intimate open-air arena, which has been hewn from farm timber in its entirety. Performances are specifically chosen to match the natural acoustics of the venue.

Get onto the N2 national road, continue on the N2 until you cross over Sir Lowry’s Pass, miss both turnoffs to Elgin/Grabouw and then turn left into Kromco (a huge apple packing Co-Op) Follow the Paul Cluver signs to the cellar or amphitheatre (distance from Kromco turnoff on the N2 approximately 1.5km to the cellar and 2km to the amphitheatre.

Seats are unreserved and available on a first come, first served basis.  Bookings can be made through Computicket.
