Killarney turns into Cape Town’s ...
Tickets for kids from R10! And you can bring your own food
Skip the chaotic crowds and typical New Year’s Eve jols in Cape Town, and rather bid farewell to 2015 with a concert by iconic South African artists on the lush lawns of the Kirstenbosch National Botanical Garden. This year will see Cape Town’s very own Jeremy Loops and ska-blend outfit Grassy Spark will perform as the opening act at this festive performance on the night of 31 December 2015.
These two performers are heating up the charts and dancefloors, so Cape Town-based revelers are in for a rocking and rolling affair in this 100-year-old garden.
Love him or hate him, Jeremy Loops is a popular SA export and his folk tunes have garnered fans from all around the world. His brand of catchy folk music is what keeps his beloved fans coming back for more. Since the release of his album, Trading Change, locals are lucky to enjoy his lilting voice while the artist jetsets around the globe.
Ska-infused band Grassy Spark is the epitome of fun and catchy songs that are bound to get toes tapping into the new year! The seven piece outfit blends reggae, ska, punk and more to create their own signature sound that has won over the hearts ( and ears) of plenty of Capetonians.
Apart from the artists though, Kirstenbosch is an attraction in its own right. Resting at the foot of the Mother City’s iconic Table Mountain, this celebrated indigenous garden marries a rich array of Cape flora with spectacular natural scenery and wide stretches of rolling greens, making it the ideal perch on which to welcome in new beginnings while soaking up the infectious melodies of these musical masters.
Needless to say, concert-goers are in for a treat with a diverse soundscape and this incredible line-up of local artists.
The relaxed picnic-style show will take place under open night skies on the garden’s expansive lawns, and those attending are encouraged to bring along blankets and cushions, baskets of delicious eats and bottles of refreshing beverages (read bubbly; this is, after all, a New Year’s celebration).
TICKETS FOR THE 2015 NEW YEAR’S EVE CONCERT AT KIRSTENBOSCH BOTANICAL GARDENS
