Dogs really are a man’s best friend…

Cape Town is home to many charitable organisations, so what differentiates the Guide-Dogs Association South Africa (GDASA) from all the others? Well, they breed and train dogs to help those with visual disabilities. They aim to make sure that all blind/visually impaired individuals have as much independence and mobility as possible in society. On Saturday, 14 October 2017 they will be hosting a fundraising gala dinner at Kelvin Grove in Newlands.

HOW CAN I HELP THE GUIDE DOGS ASSOCIATION SOUTH AFRICA?

Donate – Breeding, raising and training puppies is not cheap and your donation could help the GDASA fund these operations. You can find their banking details on their website (Guidedog.org.za), along with stories about what your money can do, and how much of a difference it can make.

Puppy-Raising – Sometimes the GDASA need a little help managing their puppies. You can foster a furry friend, but remember that there are strict rules and guidelines. These doggies aren’t pets; they’re service animals and are destined to change the life of someone who needs them.

Volunteer – The GDASA is not all puppies and kisses. Dedication to the cause is key, and by volunteering, you’ll be alleviating some of the stress the very busy and caring staff at the GDASA experience.

This year, the annual Gala Dinner is being hosted at Kelvin Grove in Newlands. The MC for the evening is TV and radio personality, Danilo Acquisto, and the key-note speaker is Lois Strachan – author, motivational speaker and guide-dog owner. Music will be provided by the very talented winner of The Voice 2016, Richard Stirton.
