A garden party in the winelands with live music, pop up food stalls, spit braais, craft beer on tap and free wine tastings to celebrate the beginning of another kickass summer in the Western Cape. This is family fun at its best. The Welcome Summer Family Festival is hosted at The Stone Kitchen, a bistro of the boutique Dunstone Country Estate in Wellington and takes place on 8 December from 12pm.
WHAT TO EXPECT
Entry is free and there’ll be plenty of food and drink stalls offering something to suit everyone’s palate. Local acts Wicus Le Roux, a popular Afrikaans singer and lyricist, and Die WildBerries, an Afrikaans/English pop duo, will perform cover songs to keep things festive and entertain the crowds.
Get into the spirit of the music early, watch Die WildBerries in action here:
COMFY SET UP
Bring your own picnic blankets or make use of the outdoor tables, bean bags, sun umbrellas and picnic blankets set up outside for your comfort on the day. The large indoor dining area of the bistro will also be open for all guests when it gets a little too warm outside.
