The Moody Blues, 10cc and Procal Harum live in South Africa

Brit rock extravaganza in Cape Town

The British are scheduled to invade Cape Town yet again, but instead of red coats and rifles, locals can look forward to The Moody Blues, 10cc and Procol Harum playing live in concert at the GrandWest Arena on Wednesday, 30 May 2012.

The Moodies, as they were often referred to by their legions of passionately devoted fans in the 1960s, are legendary English rockers that are among the top grossing album and touring bands worldwide. They’ve been on and off the road for over 40 years – no small feat – but, with a roster of hits that includes, Nights In White Satin, Ride My See-Saw, The Story In Your Eyes, Isn't Life Strange, Question, I'm Just A Singer (In A Rock And Roll Band), Your Wildest Dreams, and I Know You're Out There Somewhere, audiences, both young and old, can’t seem to get enough of these British icons.

10cc in Cape Town Concert

Deriving their name from the metric total of semen ejaculated by the average male, the tongue-in-cheek British art-pop band 10cc will be the special guests on this tour. Noted for their studio polish, advanced musicianship, impeccable vocal performances, and clever lyrics, 10cc first became successful for their classic singles that often parodied classic rock styles or satirised modern life.

With more than 30 million albums sold worldwide – they are a headline in their own right.

Procol Harum Concert

Formerly rostered to perform alongside the Moody Blues and 10cc , progressive rockers Procol Harum have sadly cancelled their performance due to an injury sustained by lead singer and founding member, Gary Brooker. According to reports, Brooker severely injured himself after a fall in Cape Town on 29 May. Mr. Brooker is in a serious, but stable condition.

“Our thoughts are with Gary and the band during this difficult time.  We are confident that he is receiving the very best medical attention and we wish him a speedy recovery”, said Big Concerts’ CEO Attie van Wyk.

The British Invasion tour will continue with The Moody Blues and 10cc.
