Suidoosterfees 2018: A celebration of Cape Culture

The much-loved festival is back in Cape Town and you’re invited to celebrate Kaapse culture and heritage through a series of colourful concerts, comedy shows and more

The 15th annual Suidoosterfees, a festival that thrusts Kaapse lifestyle, cultural diversity and inclusivity into the limelight, whirls its way across the Mother City from Thursday, 26 April to Tuesday, 1 May 2018. Taking place predominantly at the Artscape Theatre, the event uses performance, music, historical tours, art exhibitions and more to pay tribute to the people of Cape Town.

Featuring plenty of incredible local talent and celebrity appearances, this year’s event is set to be a must-attend for anyone looking for entertainment (thought-provoking, fun or educational!). The 2018 theme is Fantastic 15/Fabulous 15. The Suidoosterfees promotes unity and diversity among South Africans and aims to unite everybody, not just on stage but also in support of all things South African.

THE TALENT
Crowd favourites such as Evita Bezuidenhout, Shaleen Surtie-Richards and the enigmatic Nataniël will make an appearance, as well as some brilliant new young talent. Suidoosterfees CEO Niël Rademan says that audiences can expect an even larger variety of productions this year, bringing together all the Western Cape cultural groups. Talent searches took place throughout the Western Cape, reaching areas such as Wellington, Langa and Observatory. The festival gives young performers a platform to showcase their talents and also exposure to inspiring mentors.
