Join music festival maestros Sexy Groovy Love for their biggest (and last) event of the season. Never Imagined will be held at the stunning Nooitgedacht Wine Estate in Stellenbosch.

With large green grounds perfect for exploring and some of the best international and local artists, this is an event to slot into your 2023 calendar. Bonus: it’s only 45 minutes from Cape Town.

DANCE, PLAY, EXPLORE A LUSH GREEN OASIS  

Sexy Groovy Love is known for hosting festivals in some of the most beautiful and exotic venues in the Western Cape (previous locations include the spooky Lichtenstein Castle in Hout Bay and Cascade Country Manor in Paarl). This time, Never Imagined will be hosted at Nooitgedacht Wine Estate in Stellenbosch.

It’s home to the oldest farmhouse in South Africa and is described by co-founder Chris de Vos as a “paradise” and “oasis”. The centuries-old oak trees, lush green lawns and sprawling grounds make it a venue that isn’t only great for dancing, but for exploring, too. 

“Nooitgedacht” actually translates to “never imagined” - a fitting name for the biggest and last event of Sexy Groovy Love’s festival season.

PARTY TO AFRO HOUSE, TECHNO, DISCO + MORE 

Expect a broad spectrum of music at Never Imagined. The main stage will primarily focus on house and techno with a notable Afro influence. International headliners include Musumeci (an Italian artist with a focus on indie dance & techno) and Yulia Niko (a German artist popular for her melodic house & techno sound, and her ability to keep an audience engaged). 

An act to watch out for is Floyd Lavine, a local artist who is making international waves with his vibrant Afro sets and his charismatic energy that the crowd adores. 

The second stage will focus on more of a disco, funk and indie dance sound. Bruno Morphet is one to look out for, he is differing from his usual sound to play a more disco-and-80s-influenced set.

Tickets range from R290 (Super Early Bird) to R570 (Final Release). There are also group ticket options (buy 5 and get the 6th free), as well as “arrive-before-3pm” tickets which will cost you less. 

The venue is only a 45-minute drive from Cape Town and has a large parking area, so getting to and from Never Imagined is easy. 

It’s an all-day party that starts at 12pm: with a gorgeous venue, food market and large grounds to explore, make sure you arrive early enough to take it all in while it’s still light outside. Book your ticket via Howler.
