Sometimes, for the best things in life, you’ve got to go the distance. The distance in this case is 176km and you need to make sure you’ve travelled it by Saturday, 30 September 2017 for the McGregor Food and Wine Festival. The journey will be worth it because that’s when the little village of McGregor comes alive for the McGregor Food and Wine Festival. It’s all happening on the main market place on Kerk Street and you definitely don’t want to miss it.
It’s the perfect time of year for a mini-break and, trust us on this one, McGregor is the perfect place for a short break – and more so while the festival is on. The little town boasts plenty of wine estates, distilleries, hiking trails, adventure experiences and kiddies activities. If you’re looking for a place to stay, we recommend checking out their tourism website, Tourismmcgregor.co.za.
The festival is billing itself as the least expensive, least pretentious and most fun of any of the wine festivals! It’s the ideal opportunity to enjoy everything the McGregor region has to offer – wine, food, scenery and family fun, to literally just mention four things. The kiddies will be kept well-fed with all sorts of yummy treats including popcorn, candy floss and potato spirals. There’s also plenty of activities for the young ones to enjoy and the organisers assure us that children of all ages will be delighted by the fun on offer. What we like best is that parents don’t have to pay for the little ones to attend!
Apart from the food and wine, guests can also look forward to entertainment by local musicians, including the Langeberg Steel Band (trained by John Hargreaves) and the McGregor Brass Band. While you’re in the area, you can also check out the coffee shops, cafes, restaurants and wineries in the area. They have all kinds of delights on offer, and once you’re in McGregor, you can enjoy them properly.
