The 2017 Cape Town Festival of Running is proud to give the athletes of the Mother City a treat! On 22 and 23 July 2017 be ready to break a sweat as you tackle the terrain, running a race between 5km and 100km long.
This gruelling event is in its 19th year and is organised by the Hewat Athletics Club. The race offers four distance options spread over two days, giving all runners the opportunity to run with the scenic views of the Cape Mountains and magnificent ocean. The race is is a Two Oceans Marathon qualifier but unfortunately not a comrades qualifier.
The four options are a 5x5km relay, a 21.1km, the 50km and a 100km - not for the faint-hearted! The starting point of the race is in Seapoint (by the SABC building) and loops around to finish at the same location 15 hours after the beginning of the race.
Starting at 6.30am on Saturday, 22 July 2017, all runner will be required to attend the briefing session. Runners will then have until 10pm to complete the race, if this is not possible, participants must retire for the evening to start up from the same point again on Sunday, 23 July 2017.
We all love a prize as a sign of a job well done, so all participants will receive medals. There will be 2 refreshment stations along the route stocked with Coke, water and Powerade. Additionally, tables with bananas, oranges and biscuits will also be provided. Soup and bread will also be available in the marquee.
ENTRIES FOR THE 2017 CAPE TOWN FESTIVAL OF RUNNING
Entries are currently open and will be until 17 July 2017. The entry prices are R250 for licenced runners, R310 for unlicenced runners (with a R60 temporary licence fee) and R120 for RaceTec chip (if you do not have one).
