RocktoberFest in Cape Town

Get ready for an epic local showcase that will rock your socks off

South Africans are spoilt for choice when it comes to music festivals. From trance parties and EDM festivals to acoustic shows and hip hop gatherings, there is no shortage of options when it comes to having a great time to some live musical talent. One genre that has been fairly absent, however, is good ol’ rock ‘n roll – but that’s about to change. The first ever RocktoberFest is coming to the Mother City on Saturday, 1 October 2016, when it takes place (ironically) at Hillcrest Quarry.

Local fans of rock are having their prayers answered and can come together and rock on with a night of head banging and mosh-pitting. RocktoberFest will be headlined by local legends Springbok Nude Girls, who have produced 11 albums and perform sell-out shows across the country.

“I’m thrilled to have the undisputed rock kings on our stage,” says Mike Crawford from Hillcrest Quarry. “The Nude Girls represent a timeless age of South African rock. Their music conjures memories of the previous two decades and having them on stage with modern rock groups unifies the timeline of SA rock. To me, they are the epitome of our local rock culture,” he adds.

After all the bands have performed, a classic rock DJ will spin some iconic tunes on his vinyl records, keeping the festive atmosphere going until after midnight. Tickets to the concert can be purchased online via Computicket.com or at the door, and cost R165p/p. The show starts at 6pm and ends at 1am, but doors open at 5pm.
