Junior Passengers Ride FREE Every Sunday with Scootours®
This exciting off-road adventure provides fun for the whole family
If you’re looking for an exciting off-road adventure that’s fun for the whole family then this is for you. Every Sunday, for CapeTownMagazine.com readers only, Scootours® invites junior passengers (aged between 4 and 9 years) to ride along for FREE with a designated, paying adult. Scootours operate in both Cape Town and Franschhoek, so spend the day freewheeling around beautiful settings with your little ones, at a fraction of the cost.
Very few things beat the sweet satisfaction you get from sleeping in on a Saturday. When you have little ones, the 15 minutes to an hour you get can be worth its weight in gold. But once the munchkins start to rumble awake they’ll need something to do to match their energy and excitement. Scootours® is that something to do.
Designed in Switzerland, these eco-friendly non-motorised scooters are the first of their kind in the country – and they are a blast! Two wide wheels and a compact frame ensures the scooter is both sturdy and incredibly easy to control. If you can ride a bicycle you will do just fine on these!. You’ll be whizzing around bends, zipping down hills and gliding along the mountain ranges of the Western Cape under the watchful supervision of a professional guide.
The Cape Town tour take riders from the foot of Table Mountain down Signal Hill and through the Bo-Kaap. From there they are transported to their next starting site, Deadman’s Tree climb on Table Mountain, and then ride through Van Riebeeck Park.
The Franschhoek adventure has two tour options. The Adventure Tour takes riders on a two-hour trip along the historic Holloway Pass to end at Haute Cabrière Cellar Restaurant. Riders can look forward to picturesque views of the Franschhoek Valley as well as the lush greenery of the Mont Rochelle Nature Reserve. The Family Tour is mostly freewheeling down gentle slopes on wine farms in the region for 90 minutes. Children aged 10 years and older can ride by themselves but children younger MUST be accompanied by an adult and ride as a passenger.
Tours in Franschhoek take place at 9am, 11:30am and 2pm. During summer months there is a 4pm tour too. The tours in Cape Town can be booked for either the 9am, 12pm or 3pm slot. There’s plenty of time for you and your family to enjoy the exhilarating downhill fun! Be sure to wear closed shoes, comfortable clothing and sunscreen.
