De Krans Spring Blossom Festival

This festival will keep you as busy as the bees!

Spring is nature’s way of saying ‘let’s party’- Robin Williams

Spring has sprung and the countryside is alive with beautiful blooms in majestic hues. The orchards and wine farms in Calitzdorp are no different and on Saturday, 2 and Sunday, 3 September 2017, De Krans Wine Cellar wants to show you what this little town has to offer at their annual Spring Blossom Festival.

At this time of year it’s likely that you’re feeling a little dreary and drained from the winter cold. Well, we have just the medicine you need – take a break! The Spring Blossom Festival is the perfect reason to take time out and headto Calitzdorp along the famous Route 62 to enjoy a sensational weekend of flowers, fruit, family friendly fun and, of course, wine.

WHAT TO EXPECT AT THE 2017 SPRING BLOSSOM FESTIVAL AT DE KRANS WINE CELLAR IN CALITZDORP

The organisers have made sure that this year's festival will be packed to the brim with awesome activities. Here’s a look at what you can expect at the Spring Blossom Festival this September!

Fun Run: On Saturday, 2 September 2017, visitors are invited to join the Vineyard Run. You can choose between a 5km or a 10km trail run. Both routes will take you through the vineyards and the orchards, which will be in bloom so it’s bound to be beautiful! Doesn’t that sound like a great reason to exercise?

Photography Competition: The organisers are offering a selection of wine prizes for the best photograph taken during the festival. So make sure you pack your  camera and snap away because that wine hamper sounds rather wonderful, doesn’t it?

Adopt a Vine: In aid of the Hope Options Centre in Calitzdorp, De Krans Wine Cellar are offering their guests the opportunity to adopt (and plant) their very own vine for only R20. This money will go to a very worthy cause, and you’ll be the proud sponsor of a wine-yielding vine.

Buy Yourself Something Lovely (or Tasty): On Saturday, 2 September from 10am, De Krans will have a stunning market on the go. They will be selling trinkets, wine, wine accessories and much more. Pack your pocket money because you are sure to see something you simply have to have! No market would be complete without food stalls, and rest assured there will be plenty at the Spring Blossom Festival. If you don’t fancy market food much, the De Krans Deli and Bistro will be open from 9am to 4:30pm all weekend. It can get pretty booked-up, so make sure you reserve your space.

White Wine: Guests at the Spring Blossom Festival cano taste all the newly released white wines  from De Krans Wine Estate. This range includes a Chenin Blanc, Sauvignon Blanc, the ever-popular Moscato Perle white wine blend and a Pinotage Rose.

High Tea: On Sunday, 3 September 2017, the Calitzdorp High Tea is taking place from 11am onwards. The organisers have taken this traditionally English treat, and jazzed it up with local flavours and recipes unique to Calitzdorp. Prepare for a new take on an old classic. There’s also cocktail hour where you can enjoy a selection of classic cocktails with a classy Calitzdorp twist!

We know that Calitzdorp is quite a drive from Cape Town and staying overnight is your best bet, so have a little look-see at our accommodation section for all the info on the best places to stay!
