Cape Town Electronic Music Festival

The Mother City’s edgy underground beats celebration is back with more international DJs and local appeal

The 2017 Cape Town Electronic Music Festival (CTEMF) is set to sound off with another massive shindig that will, once again, bring the underground music scene to the forefront of Cape Town’s collective consciousness. From Friday, 10 to Sunday, 12 February 2017, audiophiles are invited to dance to the sounds of international and local greats at the Cape Town City Hall.

Partygoers can look out for an expanded programme this year that includes five stages and over 60 fantastic beat-makers from Cape Town and further afield. This year CTEMF celebrates its sixth anniversary of bringing music to the thriving South African electronic scene and building bridges with the global dance music community.

The three-day party emerges from a celebration that originally focused solely on the South African electronic music scene to a music festival that demands international attention and reflects global standards of music that can be found in Europe and North America.

In addition to the three-day music festival, CTEMF will run an additional three-day series of workshops and showcases where DJs and artists from around the world interact and share some of their knowledge with the local burgeoning talent. These workshops will take place at various venues in Cape Town from Tuesday 7, to Thursday, 9 February 2017.

STAGES AT THE 2017 CAPE TOWN ELECTRONIC MUSIC FESTIVAL (CTEMF)

Audiotorium Stage - The Audiotorium (sponsored by the Red Bull Music Academy) is the main CTEMF stage, situated in the heart of  the historic City  Hall. It will feature most of  the international acts performing at the festival, and the magnificent space lends itself to a world-class event.

Terrace Stage - Take in the sights and sounds of Cape Town’s magnificent CBD while enjoying the melodic creations of some of the finest electronic musicians from across the globe. The Terrace Stage adds a traditional festival element to CTEMF - it’s the perfect venue for dancing to the beats in the open air.

Mezzanine Floor - This is a more intimate space where revellers can get up-close and personal with the artists and one another.  The Mezzanine Floor will host some of South Africa’s budding talent and promises fresh beats with strong local influences.

Club Floor - This platform is geared towards a true dance experience in an immersive space. The Club Floor is tucked away and hidden from the rest of the festival, and will transport guests to another world.

Chill Floor - This is a place of serenity, where revellers can escape the madness and take a breather. The Chill Floor is the perfect place to take a seat, sip on a refreshing drink and enjoy a bite to eat. Mingle with other attendees and form new friendships as you recharge in this cosy space surrounded  by deep dubs, chillstep and a slow-rolling ambience.
