Rock Girl 10km Full Moon Cycle Challenge

Take to the streets of Cape Town in the light of the full moon and help raise funds for Rock Girl

Rock Girl, in conjunction with the Grand Daddy Hotel, Cycleworks, and Bos Ice Tea, is hosting a 10km Full Moon Cycle through the streets of Cape Town at 6:30pm on Monday, 4 June 2012. The cycle challenge will be followed by a live auction, with Derek van Dam as MC, where Paul Du Toit artwork, a two night stay at the Grand Daddy Hotel and many more prizes will be sold to raise funds for Rock Girl.

A grassroots movement that invests in girl-initiated and focused projects in both the private and public sectors, Rock Girl is about inspiring, encouraging and investing in women. The organisation connects women of all ages to major players in government, businesses, media, sports, fashion, and arts, who can assist in jumpstarting and facilitating projects across a broad spectrum. Not only does Rock Girl encourage girls to stay in school and empower women to become financially independent, but they also engage with men and boys in an effort to help reduce violence against women and children.

Tickets for the 10km Full Moon Cycle are R50 p/p and include free BOS Ice Tea and light snacks. Cyclists will meet to register at 5:30pm at the Grand Daddy Hotel in Long Street; the race will start at the hotel and will challenge cyclists to put the pedal to the medal as they ride to the Green Point Stadium and back. The auction starts at 7:30pm. Don’t leave too early though, the Nomadic Orchestra will be playing at the after party!

Join in, and take part in this amazing challenge and experience Cape Town in the eerie light of a full moon; though, if you’re not feeling too charitable, consider joining Moonlight Mass, another regular lunar cycle challenge.
