Glory Days at the Barnyard Theatre

This hilarious show will take you back with big hits from the glorious 80s

Some might want to forget the 80s because of the decade’s many fashion crimes (legwarmers and spandex anyone?), but redemption comes in the form of the infectious, timeless hits that were the soundtrack for those ten years. Glory Days, a musical showing at the Willowbridge Barnyard Theatre in Cape Town, is celebrating those epic anthems from Wednesday, 5 June to Sunday, 14 July 2013.

The hilarious musical journey tells the story of computer nerd Wally, whose lifelong dream is to become a rock star like his hero, Bruce Springsteen. Though he doesn’t exactly become The Boss, Wally does transform into some of the decade’s top hit-makers, like Rick Astley, Boy George and Richard Marx. Other big haired, tight-jeaned icons make appearances, so expect classics from Tina Turner, Wham!, Bon Jovi and many others during the course of this nostalgic jam.

Tickets for Glory Days at the Barnyard Theatre cost R180p/p – it’s buy one get one free - for Tuesday and Sunday shows. Tickets for shows from Wednesday to Saturday cost R135p/p, and bookings can be made online by emailing willowbridge@barnyardtheatres.co.za or telephonically by calling +27 (0)21 914 8898. Doors open at 6:30pm and the show starts at 8pm on Tuesdays to Saturdays, and on Sundays the doors open at 12:30pm and the show starts at 2pm. 

As with all Barnyard Theatres, guests are welcome to bring a picnic basket to enjoy while they watch the show; although, no drinks from outside are allowed. The theatre has a bar that sells wine, beer and ciders, as well as a pizza menu and snack platters; food must be booked 48 hours in advance.
