The Mother City’s fortnightly beat boogie celebrates its fourth birthday with a mystery location and secret outdoor party

Parties, much like clubs, come and go, and while jols in Cape Town are a dime a dozen, none stand out as much as the Mother City institution Cold Turkey. Best known for the three Bs (bass, beats and braai), this legendary electronic music experience has flitted from one spot to another and is currently prepping for the biggest, bassiest jol yet in celebration of its fourth anniversary.

This birthday edition is scheduled for Sunday, 28 December 2014 and will sound off in an undisclosed location.

Revelers will meet up at two determined pick-up points and will be shuttled to the mystery partying spot, where 12 DJs will bring the noise during the half-day opskop. Another feature of this mystery party is that attendees will be able to bring one bottle of their own hard tack or Champagne and are welcome to pack a yummy picnic basket filled with treats and braai goodies (note: you can’t bring your own beer or mixers). There will be a fully serviced bar at the undisclosed location as well as food trucks for those too lazy to prep.

WHAT TO EXPECT AT THE COLD TURKEY PARTY IN CAPE TOWN

KILLER LINE-UP: The line-up has yet to be announced and remains one of the secrets of this mystery birthday jol; although, regular attendees will know that party-goers can always look forward to Cold Turkey daddies and resident DJs Blotchy and Rebel Clef. Watch out for their slammin’ beats and mixes that add that much-loved local flavour to the dance floor, which is obviously dedicated to getting hips winding and feet stomping. Expect everything from tranquil low-fi electronica dedicated to a chill out with friends andneck bobbin’ hip-hop to downright messy dubstep and filthy trap beats.

LEKKER FOOD TRUCKS: This isn’t your average 12-hour jol: those looking for some fun and games to pass the time will be entertained with some of the activities on offer. And in between busting slick moves on the dance floor, revelers can line their stomachs with tasty nosh on offer from the hip ‘n trendy food trucks on displays .

AN AWESOME VENUE: This undisclosed venue promises to be a banger, with the organisers keeping it under wraps until guests arrive. All that is being shared is that party-goers should come prepped for a ‘mystery drive’ to an outdoor location and some face-melting bass.
