If you’re not already in love with celebrity chef Eric Lanlard from his stint on BBC Lifestyle’s ‘Baking Mad’, you’ll definitely feel your knees weaken at the sight of the heavenly treats from his latest book, “Chocolat”. Luckily for smitten fans and food lovers, there’s a chance to get up close and personal with the French pâtissier and his recipes at a luncheon at Simonsig estate’s signature restaurant, Cuvée, in Stellenbosch on Sunday, 19 May 2013.
Lanlard has teamed up with the wine estate’s head chef, Lucas Carstens, to come up with a cocoa-inspired menu to satiate the sweetest of sweet tooths. Guests will dine on a creamy carrot risotto and crisps with blue cheese smothered in a delicate white chocolate sauce, followed by a hearty cocoa-crusted springbok loin served with parsnip, spinach and Arabic jus, rounded off by a decadent dessert straight from “Chocolat”. The offering expertly illustrates the versatility of both the feel-good ingredient and the master chefs’ talents.
Foodies will also have an opportunity to get their hands on signed copies of the chocolatier’s recipe book, in which he reveals tried and tested techniques for a selection of chocolate-based recipes: think anything from chocolate drinks and muffins to gateaux and petits fours. Not to mention, Lanlard will be dispensing valuable tips, and diners will join the ranks of A-listers, like Sir Elton John and Madonna, who have also been treated to the chef’s culinary masterpieces.

Tickets cost R290p/p, and guests should arrive at 12pm for 12:30pm. “Chocolat” will be available from Cuvée at a special price of R190 per book and will be at leading book stores from June 2013.
