Gaping holes in plot lines, lack of continuity, special effects that are, well, very special and, the highlight, terrible acting. Yes, that’s right, we’re talking B-grade (and often F-grade) films: these are the gems that make up the line-up at Bad Movie Night (BMN), a bi-weekly event set to fill the (relatively) big screen at It’s a House every second Tuesday in June and July 2013.
There are a few types of flicks out there, namely the Oscar-winning films, made-for-TV dramas, box-office blockbusters and, then, the bad movies. Now, there’s a big difference between a horrendous film and a bad movie: horrendous films are the kind you wouldn’t dare watch, no matter how vile the threat (think the “Twilight” saga), and bad movies – usually a horror film – are so terrible, they’re considered works of art (case in point: “Death Bed: The Bed That Eats”).
Curator of the season and film editor Luke Apteker offers his expert opinion on what makes these poor pictures so perfect, “(It’s) a movie that doesn’t take itself seriously. A movie that makes you laugh even when you’re not supposed to. A movie that’s funny to watch and does retarded things when least expected… bad acting, pixellated CGI and plot holes so big the Mariana Trench could get lost in it definitely help.” And to debut the bi-weekly movie night: the cult classic, internationally acclaimed and title-holder of "Worst Movie of All Time", Troll 2.
What’s more, traditional cinematic food like popcorn is available along with yummy winter fare, such as hot soup or hot chocolate, and the all-year, everyday kind of drink: beer.

Tickets for Bad Movie Night at It’s a House
Tickets are available at the door on the night and costs R20p/p. Doors open at 7pm, and the screening starts at 8pm.
All money collected at the door go to charity, and a box will be stationed at the venue for donations to the needy; canned food, old blankets and clothes are all welcomed.
