Wine fanatics; prepare to spread your wings and flock to one of the Klein Karoo’s most charming hamlets for the 2017 Winter in Calitzdorp Festival that starts on Friday, 16, and runs until Sunday, 18 June 2017.
Located just over four hours from Cape Town along the scenic Route 62, Calitzdorp, known as the Port wine capital of South Africa, comes alive every winter with an intoxicating line-up of tastings, entertainment and activities for both young and old.

Similar to the Douro valley in Portugal – the spot where fortified wine originated – the Mzansi village owes its Port success to the favourable climate and the dedicated craftsmen who use time-honoured traditions and top-notch quality fruits to produce the finest Port wines in South Africa.
This year boasts a wealth of exciting activities for the whole family, including a medieval style dinner straight from Camelot. Lancelots and Guineveres can dress to impress in ‘ye olde’ gowns and garbs and head to the Calitzdorp Station on Friday for a feast, live music, and an outdoor movie if the sun chooses to shine. There’ll be the traditional opening procession through town, and the booze and beer tents will open to keep thirsty attendees hydrated. Upbeat tunes will echo from the Shed, and there’ll be a selection of stalls for shopaholics to browse, along with various kids’ activities. There’ll be top-notch tunes to keep toes tapping at the Calitzdorp Cellars and the famed street party will take over the town, with multiple food stalls and live music to boot.

TICKETS FOR THE 2017 WINTER IN CALITZDORP FESTIVAL
Tickets are available at the event and entry to the various activities on offer varies at each venue but guests can look to spend between R10p/p and R200p/p depending on their chosen activity.
For more information about the competitions and programme, visit the Calitzdorp Winter Festival website, which is listed at the bottom of the page.
